I read somewhere that having a child with the extra chromosome 21 is like taking the scenic route of parenting. You still get where you are going. It might take a little longer, but what you see and experience on your way will be well worth the trip. I think it’s really true. Children with Down syndrome need a little bit more help in reaching their milestones. They don’t really respect developmental charts and do things in their own time. And of course when a milestone is reached it’s celebrated like a big holiday. It’s remembered, to the dot, date and time.
This is wintery scenic route of this amazing family. Day in their life. Balloons, snow walks, board games and hot chocolate. Thank you for inviting me to document your story.
